Notes from the Campaign Trail (3)

I am heading into a long-awaited, in person meeting with three VPs, all doctors, at Independence Blue Cross and Magellan this Wednesday afternoon. I was hoping the doctor who has provided the most input so far to the Opioid Crisis Action Network (OCAN) would be able to attend but he is out of the country. I have a wonderful behavioral therapist and a terrific attorney attending with me but who better to stand toe to toe with three doctors than another doctor with experience treating those suffering from addiction. This stress sifted through my brain this afternoon as I tried to avoid raindrops, juggle an umbrella, campaign lit, a nominating petition and street lists knocking on doors in my neighborhood. Who should look up from signing my petition while I was telling the story of my Brendan's recent overdose death and OCAN's mission, but an MD who treats the addicted. He agreed to participate in a preparation conference call tonight that lasted every bit of 90 minutes and clear his schedule so he could attend the IBC meeting with us Wednesday. Coincidence or God incidence? You decide. I would appreciate your prayers for continued blessings on this important meeting.
