Notes from the Campaign Trail (5)

Last Saturday while canvassing for nominating petitions in South Philly, I met a resident who is writing a book about the opioid crisis. She emailed me and asked for an interview. We had lunch today in a Rittenhouse Square area cafe. She asked a lot of tough questions. I did not know how to respond to many of them. It was like a therapy session. I told Brendan's story the best I could, with more details than usual. When I got to the end, I started crying and could not stop for a long minute. People were looking at me. I finally pulled myself together and then it was time to go meet with Independence Blue Cross. I'll cry about you later Brendan. I gotta go fight for you now.
